About Scaffolders

A scaffolder erects and dismantles temporary scaffolding to provide safe working platforms for other trades - roofers, painters, roughcasters and anyone else working at height.

You may not hire a scaffolder directly - your roofer or builder often arranges it - but understanding the costs helps when it appears as a line item in a quote. Scaffolding must be erected by a qualified team to meet health and safety regulations.

Confirm the hire period, weekly rental cost and whether the quote includes delivery, erection, dismantling and collection - overrun charges can add up quickly if a job takes longer than expected.

Also covers:
  • scaffolding hire
  • scaffold erection
  • temporary access

About Winchburgh

Winchburgh is one of West Lothian's fastest-growing communities, with a major expansion programme underway that is expected to significantly increase the village's population over the coming years.

It sits close to the M9 and has good rail access via the Edinburgh to Stirling line, making it attractive to developers and commuters seeking a home within easy reach of the capital.

The Union Canal passes nearby, adding a leisure and heritage dimension and providing a pleasant walking and cycling route through the surrounding countryside.

When the expansion is complete, Winchburgh is expected to become a significant community in its own right, with new schools, shops and local services built as part of the development.

About West Lothian

West Lothian coat of arms(opens in new tab)

West Lothian is a council area in the heart of the central belt, sitting between Edinburgh to the east, Falkirk to the north and North Lanarkshire to the west.

It is a county of contrasts: historic royal burghs like Linlithgow and ancient villages like Torphichen sit alongside the new town of Livingston and the former mining and shale oil communities that shaped the landscape in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Livingston is the county's main centre - Scotland's fifth-largest settlement - but West Lothian's character is defined as much by its smaller towns: Bathgate, Broxburn, Whitburn and Linlithgow each have their own distinct identity.

The oil shale industry, pioneered here in the 1850s by James Young, left a lasting mark on the landscape in the form of distinctive pink bings - the waste heaps of the shale works - that have become recognised landmarks in their own right.

West Lothian has excellent transport connections, with the M8 and M9 crossing the county, two rail lines linking it to Edinburgh and Glasgow and Edinburgh Airport on its eastern edge.
