About Physiotherapists

A physiotherapist assesses, diagnoses and treats physical problems caused by injury, illness or ageing - using hands-on techniques, exercise programmes and education to restore movement and reduce pain.

Whether you are recovering from surgery, managing a long-term condition or dealing with a stiff neck that will not shift, a good physio gets to the root of the problem rather than just treating the symptoms.

Check they are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) - both are marks of a qualified, regulated practitioner.

About Douglas

Douglas is a residential area in the east of Dundee, sitting between the city centre and Broughty Ferry along the north bank of the Tay.

The housing is largely post-war with pockets of newer development, and the area has its own primary schools, community centre and local shops along Douglas Road.

Douglas Community Park and the nearby Swannie Ponds give the area more green space than much of inner Dundee.

Bus routes along the Arbroath Road and Strathmartine Road corridors connect Douglas to the city centre, the Waterfront and Ninewells Hospital within minutes.

About Dundee

Dundee coat of arms(opens in new tab)

Dundee is a compact city on the north bank of the Firth of Tay, Scotland's fourth-largest, with a narrow belt of suburbs stretching east to the handsome seaside village of Broughty Ferry and west to Invergowrie on the Carse of Gowrie.

The city has a gritty, unpretentious character shaped by its industrial past - jute, jam and journalism were the famous 'three Js' - and that working heritage gives Dundee a warmth and directness that sets it apart from Scotland's other cities.

The waterfront has been transformed in recent years, with V&A Dundee anchoring a regeneration that stretches along the Tay, but the real character of the city is in its neighbourhoods - the West End's cafes and independent shops, the Stobswell community, the views from the Law and the harbour feel of Broughty Ferry.

Dundee punches well above its weight in technology and research. The studios behind Grand Theft Auto and Lemmings are based here, and the University of Dundee and Abertay University drive strengths in life sciences, digital media, art and design.

Despite its city status, Dundee is remarkably walkable - most neighbourhoods are within a few miles of the centre - and the Tay Road Bridge, railway station and A90 connect it quickly to Fife, Perth and Aberdeen.
