About Kinross

Kinross is a small town on the western shore of Loch Leven, about 15 miles south of Perth.

Loch Leven Castle, reached by ferry from the town, is where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned and from which she escaped in 1568 — one of the most dramatic episodes in Scottish history.

The town sits beside the M90 motorway, giving it unusually fast road access to both Edinburgh and Perth, which makes it popular with commuters who value the quieter pace of a lochside setting.
